Running a Location-independent Web Company: Cody McKibben Story
If you are looking for inspiration from people running their businesses in location independent manner (besides me,) I would like to recommend you to follow the location independence life of Cody McKibben.
Cody McKibben is an average guy… um, no; not-so average actually, he’s been featured on many sites like Young Entrepreneur Council, Business Insider, The New York Times and many more – thanks to his success in running a web company while traveling outside the US.
Cody, like many others, starts his digital nomad and geoarbitrage life due to personal reasons. Specifically in Cody’s case, he mentioned in his blog post that he decided to embark to his journey due to some circumstances, namely the boring 9-5 job and messy relationship.
Just like me, Cody is inspired by Tim Ferriss’ bestseller book, The 4-Hour Workweek. So, intrigued by the life of Tim Ferris, on 2008 he left California with a one way ticket to Asia with no plan to return for at least a year. Well, he is now still traveling the world – thanks to his success in implementing location independent living (and working.)
What Cody does is designing his own lifestyle: Building a business that can be run wherever he is, whenever he wants, in such a way that he’s able to benefit from geoarbitrage, experience other cultures and travel to interesting places.
I suggest you to visit Cody McKibben’s Thrilling Heroics to follow what Cody’s been up to and learn from him how to design your lifestyle the way you want it.
